Supernovae

Supernova is an explosion of a massive super-giant star. It radiates as much energy as the Sun would emit over about 10 billion years.

The two most famous supernovae in our Galaxy are the Crab in the constellation Taurus and Tycho's supernova in the constellation Cassiopeia.
